Tips for Traveling By Car With Your Cat

Choose an airline-approved carrier or crate with your cat's name/info, familiar bedding, litter pan and water.

Carrier

Pack a spill-proof bowl, food, litter, waste bags, grooming supplies, medication and toys.

Supplies

To ease motion sickness, don't feed right before travel, use anti-nausea meds, calming treats, and plastic carriers.

Sickness

Minimize stress with calming sprays/herbs, minimizing stops, and keeping the carrier secure and covered.

Anxiety

When stopping, keep your cat confined in a temperature-controlled car to prevent escape and access food/litter privately.

Pit Stops

Call pet-friendly hotels in advance, keep the cat in the bathroom with food/litter when settling into lodging.

Lodging

Bring a copy of your cat's rabies certificate and medical information in case of a vet emergency en route.
