Teach "give" or "drop it" so your dog learns to release objects on cue for safety.

Begin training with light, soft items your dog can comfortably hold in their mouth.

For reluctant dogs, smear peanut butter or cream cheese on items to encourage picking up.
Food Lures
Never forcefully take objects from your dog's mouth. This can create a possessive behavior.
